Acts chapter 2 covers a very major event in the history of our church. This chapter goes over the day of the Pentecost. On this day the Spirit fell upon the disciples and they were suddenly able to preach to people of all different tongues. I feel that this event is really amazing. The Holy Ghost is such an important part of our church because it is what helps us communicate with our Heavenly Father. Thanks to the companionship of the spirit we are able to hear promptings, be comforted and know the will of the Lord. The Spirit helped me know that this church is true when I was younger and debating whether or not I should get baptized. Now that I am a member of the church I am grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost in my life. Whenever I feel alone the Spirit allows me to feel that Heavenly Father loves me no matter what I do or have done. Through this feeling of Heavenly Father’s love I am able to be happy no matter how bad my day has seemed.
During the second Chapter of Acts Peter also testified of the way to achieve salvation. He brought to the attention of the many doubting Jews that the person who they had denied as the Christ was indeed the Messiah and when looking at the scriptures that they had you could see how he came to this earth and fulfill prophesies. He testified that it is through our Jesus the Christ that we can repent of our sins and that while he may not have understood the purpose of the Savior before he really understands how He is the Savior of our souls.
Peter’s testimony allowed many people to feel the Spirit themselves and many were brought to the Gospel. The events in Chapter 2 are what helped Christianity survive throughout this time period. Without the Spirit to guide them and help them through the difficult times and the persecution it is doubtful that we would have been blessed with the scriptures that we have today. The Holy Ghost guides us today to choose right from wrong just like it helped the early followers of Christ. Just like the Holy Ghost helped many of the unbelievers in this chapter come to know of the truthfulness of the gospel it is an essential part of missionary work today.
